Through the Western Resilience Water Programme, we have already started work to strengthen and connect water systems across western Jamaica. We are relaying transmission mains from Martha Brae to the Terminal Reservoir in Montego Bay and distribution mains from Great River along the St. James and Hanover boundary, extending towards western Negril. We are also undertaking major work on the Logwood system following seismic activity that caused some water sources to shift from their original extraction points established decades ago. As these systems are connected, we will have greater flexibility to move water where it is needed based on the available supply and conditions in different areas. In time, Martha Brae will also be able to support sections of St. Ann, while the Bogue system, which serves much of Ocho Rios, will have greater capacity to support areas further west. This is a major and costly undertaking, and it will take time to complete. But we have started the work in critical sections.
