من رئیس حزب خلق مردم اروپا را در بوداپست پذیرفت. من با @ManfredWeber درباره این موضوع تامل کردیم که اکنون که دیگر کمپین‌های نفرت‌انگیز با میلیاردها پول دولتی تأمین نمی‌شوند، چه چیزها در مجارستان تغییر کرده است. رئیس حزب گفت که به عنوان یک سیاستمدار باواریایی، حمایت از مجارستان برای او همیشه مهم بوده است و شخصاً تحمل کارزار تخمیرآمیزی را که با کینه‌های ویکتور اوربان انگیخته می‌شود، دشوار یافته است. رئیس @EPP کمک خود را برای یافتن راهکاری جهت اطمینان از اینکه مجارستان دیگر مجبور نباشد جریمه روزانه یک میلیون یورو بابت قوانین پناهندگی که که در حال محافظت از مرزهای خارجی اروپا اعمال می‌شود پرداخت کند، پیشنهاد داد. من واضح کردم که مجارستان به دفاع از مرزهای خود ادامه خواهد داد و درخواست می‌کند جریمه‌های وضع شده تا الان در مذاکرات درباره بودجه جدید اتحادیه اروپا در نظر قرار گیرد. همچنین به رئیس حزب گفتم که حزب TISZA زمانی که نهادهای اتحادیه اروپا روند ماده ۷ را که علیه مجارستان آغاز شده بود مختوم کنند، با میل به حزب خلق مردم پی خواهد خواهد شد. من همچنین تأکید کردم که برای یک دولت TISZA، مهم‌ترین وظیفه، دفاع از منافع مردم و کسب‌وکارهای مجارستان است و ما به هیچ کس در تصمیم‌گیری‌های اتحادیه اروپا چک سفید نخواهیم داد. امروز شب، از جلسه دولت، از @eucopresident آنونیو کوستا در بوداپست استقبال خواهم کرد تا درباره بودجه هفت‌ ساله جدید اتحادیه اروپا و چالش‌های پیش روی اروپا گفتگو کنیم.

I received the President of the European People’s Party in Budapest. With @ManfredWeber, we reflected on how much has changed in Hungary now that hate campaigns are no longer being financed with billions in public money. The President said that, as a Bavarian politician, supporting Hungary has always been important to him, and that he had personally found it difficult to endure the smear campaign fuelled by Viktor Orbán’s resentment. The President of the @EPP offered his assistance in finding a solution to ensure that Hungary no longer has to pay a daily fine of one million euros over the asylum rules applied while protecting Europe’s external borders. I made it clear that Hungary will continue to defend its borders and will request that the fines imposed so far be taken into account in negotiations on the new EU budget. I also told the President that TISZA would gladly join the European People’s Party once the EU institutions have closed the Article 7 procedure initiated against Hungary. I further emphasised that, for a TISZA government, the most important task will be to represent the interests of the Hungarian people and Hungarian businesses, and that we will not give anyone a blank cheque in EU decision-making. This evening, after the government meeting, I will receive @eucopresident António Costa in Budapest to discuss the EU’s new seven-year budget and the challenges facing Europe.
