TRUMP OVERRULES HEGSETH ON LIVESTREAMING FIRING-SQUAD EXECUTION U.S. President #DonaldTrump has scrapped Defense Secretary #PeteHegseth's controversial plan to livestream the execution of #FortHood shooter Nidal Hasan, following widespread backlash. Hasan, convicted of killing 13 people and wounding 32 others at the Texas military base in 2009, is scheduled to face a firing squad on Dec. 3. In a Truth Social post Thursday, Trump argued that broadcasting the execution could serve as a powerful deterrent, but acknowledged that many people "would rather not watch him die." The execution will go ahead without the #livestream, Trump added. The UN human rights office also warned last week that broadcasting the execution would amount to a public execution and "breach the absolute prohibition of torture."
