I recently met with Jamaica’s Ambassador-Designate to Japan to discuss her upcoming posting and the opportunities to further strengthen the relationship between our two countries. Jamaica and Japan have a long-standing relationship, with opportunities to expand trade, cultural exchange and cooperation in areas such as disaster preparedness and recovery. Our exports, including coffee, spices and cotton, offer room for further growth, while programmes such as the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme continue to support cultural and educational exchange. I wished the Ambassador every success in the new role and encouraged the continued development of partnerships that create opportunities for Jamaica and our people.
